A family of rugs, from Yazd to Paris, and now Brussels
Yazd
The Dakhili family comes from Yazd, in central Persia, a city of merchants and weavers. The rug trade has been handed down there for generations: recognising a knot, a dye, a region by eye and by hand.
Paris, rue de Babylone
Babylone Tapis is at 51 rue de Babylone, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Classic and modern Oriental rugs are sold there, restored there and cleaned there. The taupe shopfront and the office with the large medallion rug are the ones you see on this site.
Brussels, Schuman roundabout
Babylone Atelier Tapis opens the Belgian branch at the Schuman roundabout, in the European quarter, for Brussels and the surrounding area. Same methods, same standards, same family.
What we commit to
- 1
Examine the rug before promising anything.
- 2
Tell you what will come out in the wash and what won't.
- 3
Repair with the same materials and the same techniques as the original weaving.
- 4
Give you the price before, not after.
Request a quote
A photo and the dimensions are enough for a first estimate. We reply by email or by phone.
- 1You send us a photo
A photo of the rug and its approximate dimensions, through the form or by email. No need to come in.
- 2We reply with a clear quote
We look at the material, the condition and any stains, then write back with what we propose and what it will cost. No surprises later.
- 3The rug goes to the workshop and comes back ready to lay
We agree the transport and the timing with you. Your rug comes back clean, dry, fringes combed.
